This year’s tour series town centre racing is well underway and, I have to say, its been pretty low key for me this year.

This series is always one of my main goals for the season and this year has been no different. But bad luck has followed me around in the first 6 rounds.

I started off with a flat tyre in round 1 with just 500m to go; round 2 was on a very hard circuit that didn’t really suit my racing style – happy my mate Kristian House took the victory. The day after round 2 I became sick with a heavy cold, so rested in bed for 3 days. Then in round 3 I had a nightmare; I couldn’t even follow the wheels in the peloton. My first ever non finish in a tour series in 3 years. Disappointment, frustration and anger all at the same time, I really didn’t know what was going on.

As I was on tour with my team I didn’t really get much rest but into round 5 and i was back to form, placing 5th and very happy to be back.

I’m now writing this lounging on my sofa recovering from another bout of sickness that knocked me out of round 6 and gave me my 2nd non finish in a week.

These situations are sent to test us I reckon; it couldn’t be any worse timing really. But I will be back for the last 4 rounds to try and salvage some victory salutes.
